En route, visit typical villages and markets and stop at the foot of Mount Agou, the peak of Togo. Visit some of these villages and get acquainted with the everyday chores of the locals and drive through Defale ranges to Koutammakou, the land of the Tamberma, a Unesco World Heritage Site. On arrival, information on the site and with the authorization your hosts, visit their habitat, the takienta; adobe castles spread in the fields. Drive through this amazing tribal land to Boukoumbe. After border formalities, proceed through the land of the Somba to Natitingou in northern Benin. Arrive in Natitingou. Overnight at hotel.</span></p>

Proceed to Dassa Zoume, the city with 41 hills. Visit the sanctuary of the Virgin and proceed to Abomey, the historical capital city of Benin. Overnight at hotel.</span></p>

Courtesy to king Agoli Agbo, the reigning king of Abomey [If his agenda allows] and have the amazons perform their war dance in your honor. Drive to Abomey-Calavi. Cruise the Nokoue Lake aboard a motor boat for Ganvie, the biggest stilt village in Africa, home to over 33,000 Tofinu people. On arrival, stop at the house of Francophonie, go the Lovers’ Lane through the floating market and stop at a typical Ganvie souvenir shop. Return to Abomey-Calavi and proceed to hotel. Return to Cotonou; visit the craft market and drive to Ouidah, the voodoo capital city of Benin. Overnight at hotel.</span></p>

Proceed to a former Brazilian church converted into a mosque and visit the museum of ethnography with a fabulous collection of Gelede masks. Drive to Abomey Calavi.Cruise the Nokoue Lake in a motorboat for Ganvie, the biggest stilt village in Africa, home to over 33,000 Tofinu people. On arrival, visit the “maison de la Francophonie” and go the Lovers’ Lane through the floating market and stop at a typical Ganvie souvenir shop. Back to Abomey-Calavi and proceed to Ouidah, the voodoo capital city of Benin. Check-in at Hotel. Overnight at hotel.</span></p>

Arrive; visit Honme, the former palace of King Toffa, the nineteenth monarch of Hogbonu. Continue to the museum of ethnography displaying aspects of Birth, Life and Death with a fabulous collection of Gelede masks. Return to Cotonou. Drive to Abomey-Calavi. Aboard a motorboat, cruise the Nokoue Lake to Ganvie, Africa’s biggest stilt village. On arrival, visit the “Maison de la Francophonie”, a replica of Ganvie traditional houses. Go the narrow alleyways between the stilt houses passing the Lovers’ Lane, the floating market to a typical Ganvie souvenir shop. Return to Abomey-Calavi and continue to Cotonou.</span><br />

Join in the preliminary ceremonies of the voodoo festival including prayers, chanting and drumming by various priests from the area. After a brief exchange wih King Kpodegbe, road to Ouidah, the voodoo capital city of Benin. Arrive in Ouidah; experience the Slave Road from the former slave market till the awesome Door of No Return on the beach that saw millions of Africans embark on slave vessels for the Americas. Scenic drive through the coconut grove passing fishing villages for beachfront Casa del Papa. Overnight at hotel.</span></p>

Embark on a tour of Ouidah including the temple of pythons opposite the Basilica, Kpasse sacred forest dotted with many sculptures representing artist representation of many deities. This shaded wood is where the second King of Ouidah, Kpasse got deified into a tree, still visible here today. We end our tour of Ouidah visiting the museum of History, a former Portuguese slave fort. Continue to Cotonou. Overnight at hotel.</span></p>
